ABC’s nightly newscast last week appeared to be narrowing the ratings gap between it and NBC’s for the first time since Diane Sawyer took over as anchor last year. Among the key demographic group of adults 25-54, ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer averaged 1.89 million viewers, just 5 percent behind NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, which average 2.26 viewers. Overall, NBC led with 7.75 million viewers (5.2 rating and an 11 share) versus ABC’s 7.07 million (4.8 rating and an 11 share). CBS Evening News with Katie Couric remained a distant third with 5.16 million viewers (3.6 rating and an 8 share).
