Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel reversed positions on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart last week, with Sherlock taking over the top spot, followed by Alvin in second place. A week earlier, Alvin had been the clear winner. On Home Media magazine’s rental chart, Sherlock remained at the top for the second week in a row. In something of a surprise, the top new release hitting the sales chart was the Blu-ray release of The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy, which is priced at $99.98. It entered the chart at No. 5 overall and at No. 1 among Blu-ray-only discs In its third week, The Blind Side moved up to third place (from fourth last week), while New Moon finished fourth in its fifth week on the chart.
