NBC SAYS (UNOFFICIALLY) CONAN LIED ON “60 MINUTES”

Although NBC has not formally responded to Conan O’Brien’s remarks on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday, the celebrity website TMZ has rounded up some unnamed network sources who have claimed that O’Brien lied throughout the interview — in particular when he said that it would have cost NBC far more to buy out Jay Leno’s contract than his own and that it was “really not possible” for NBC to have lost money on the Tonight show while he was its host, as the network had claimed. An NBC source told TMZ that network executives had discussed the network’s calculation that it would have lost $5 million on the show this year if they kept Conan on. “They were well informed of that fact,” a source told TMZ.
