Power Rangers are morphing into Haim Saban characters again. The media mogul, who once cornered the market on kids shows aimed at young boys — many of them American versions of popular Japanese productions — has reportedly paid the Walt Disney Co. $100 million to reacquire the Power Rangers shows from the Walt Disney Co., which gained control of them in 2001 when it bought the Fox Family Channel, a joint venture between Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and Saban Entertainment. Saban reportedly plans to move the current library of some 700 Power Rangers shows to the Nickelodeon channel and produce another 100 shows to add to the list.
