Art Linkletter, a daytime fixture on radio and television throughout most of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s with his Art Linkletter’s House Party and in primetime with People Are Funny, died Wednesday in Los Angeles at age 97. The cause of death was not disclosed. Linkletter is perhaps best remembered for his interviews with children, which became a regular feature of his shows. In 1998 he returned to television with clips from the early shows as a weekly contributor to Kids Say the Darndest Things, hosted by Bill Cosby, in which Cosby played Linkletter’s role with contemporary children.
