Thanks to NBC’s annual summer hit, America’s Got Talent, the network’s ratings soared on Tuesday and Wednesday night, with a two-hour edition on Tuesday averaging 12.29 million viewers and beating the competition in every half-hour, among both the key adult-18-49 demographic and total viewers. Moreover, it appeared that the show had found the counterpart to Susan Boyle, last year’s Britain’s Got Talent sensation, in Michael Grimm, who wowed the judges and audience alike with a soulful, goose-bump-making rendition of the Ray Charles hit You Don’t Know Me. (Grimm is a white Mississippian.) The talent show returned on Wednesday for a one-hour edition and again dominated the time period with 10.13 million viewers, easily winning out over the second hour of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, which averaged 7.05 million viewers.
