The Hoff, it turns out, is no hoofer. With 18.31 million viewers tuning in, David Hasselhoff became the first celebrity voted off the dance floor on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. In a surprise, Hasselhoff and professional partner Kym Johnson were dumped after their first dance, which was described by judge Brüno Tonioli as “a potpourri of insanity, disguised as dance.” There were equally strong numbers for other returning shows Tuesday night. CBS’s long-running hit NCIS drew 18.92 million viewers in its 2-hour season bow, despite competition from Fox’s Glee, which returned with 12.28 million viewers (and was first among adults 18-49). At 10:00 p.m. the series debut of Detroit 1-8-7 road Dancing‘s coattails to a second-place finish with 9.75 million viewers.
