MOVIES GIVE WAY TO TV SHOWS ON DVD SALES CHART

Three season compilations of television shows nudged movies out of the DVD sales chart for last week. Indeed, the top seller for the week was ABC’s Lost: The Complete Sixth Season. The fourth season of Showtime’s Dexter also made the list at No. 4, followed by the seventh season of CBS’s NCIS. Sony’s The Back-up Plan was the top-rated movie, coming in at No. 2, followed by Disney’s The Last Song. The most rented movie of the week was Fox’s Date Night, followed by The Back-up Plan at No. 2 and Death at a Funeral at No. 3. Furry Vengeance, a disastrous flop for Summit Entertainment at the box office, performed reasonably well on DVD, coming in at No. 8 on the sales chart and No. 5 on the rental chart.
