Paramount has set February 11 — which, it noted, is the Friday before Valentine’s Day — as the release date for Justin Bieber’s 3D concert documentary. The studio said that the so-far-untitled film will be directed by Jon Chu, who directed last month’s Step Up 3D, a $30-million film that has to date earned $137 million worldwide. In a statement, Chu called attention to the 16-year-old singer’s fabled lightning-fast rise from obscurity to celebrity via YouTube. “He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don’t even know what to do with it yet. It’s a pretty cool story for our time.” Footage for the documentary has already been filmed at Bieber’s concerts in Nashville and New York City.
