Kevin McCarthy, whose TV and movie credits on IMDb number more than 200, has died in Hyannis, MA at age 96. He never stopped acting, appearing in a starring role in the short film Drawback only this year. He is best known for his role as a doctor warning that aliens were taking over the bodies of his neighbors and friends in the 1956 horror classic The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He also appeared on stage and in the film version of Death of a Salesman, for which he received an Oscar nomination in 1952. A ruggedly handsome actor, he was one of the most frequently appearing leading men in live dramatic productions in television’s “golden age” and in more recent years appeared in character roles on dozens of shows.
