CNN FALLS TO FOX AS LAST MINERS RESCUED

October 15, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

CNN, which on Tuesday had demonstrated that it could beat Fox News with live news coverage — it was the highest-rated cable network when the first Chilean miner was rescued — gave up its lead on Wednesday as it tried to cover the mine rescue and the Delaware Senate debate between Christine O’Donnell and Chris Coons at the same time. Fox, which focused exclusively on the rescue, recorded its biggest audience since the 2008 elections — more than 7 million viewers during the 8:00 p.m. hour. CNN, however, found relatively few viewers who were interested in the debate and ended up with 2.7 million viewers in that hour.
