EX-CNN ANCHOR BROWN SAYS CABLE NEWS IS NOW MOSTLY OPINION

Former CNN anchor Aaron Brown, who was fired by Jon Klein in 2005, a year after Klein took over as president, has charged that cable news networks have become bullhorns for political extremists. As reported by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Brown told a Seattle audience, “We have become a country short on fact and abundant on opinion. … It makes consensus harder to find.” Moreover, Brown continued, the really important issues of the day become lost in the inconsequential wrangling — leading to hours of shouting over the Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero in New York, but “nothing on the soaring poverty rate.”
