CNN’s Parker Spitzer, which received scathing reviews after its debut Monday night, flopped in the ratings as well, according to figures released Tuesday by Nielsen Research. The premiere attracted just 454,000 viewers, versus 3,112,000 for Bill O’Reilly on Fox News and 1,115,000 for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. Even Nancy Grace on CNN’s sibling network HLN beat it with 468,000 viewers. Since many in Parker Spitzer’s audience were motivated to tune in by the “curiosity factor,” numbers were expected to fall well below Monday night’s results in the days ahead. Parker Spitzer replaced Rick’s List, hosted by Rick Sanchez, which had been filling in during the time period following the departure of Campbell Brown. Sanchez was fired by CNN last week for comments he made during a radio interview about Jews in the media in general and Comedy Central host Jon Stewart in particular. He had been averaging 491,000 viewers.
