SANCHEZ: “I SCREWED UP”

Rick Sanchez made his first television appearance this morning (Friday) since being fired by CNN last week for calling Jon Stewart a bigot and implying that Jews controlled the news media. What he had intended to focus on, he said during an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s Good Morning America, was that cable and network executives have not seen fit to hire any Hispanic, Asian or African-American anchors on their primetime newscasts. “I was feeling a little bit put out, and I was feeling a little sensitive,” he said. (Sanchez had briefly taken over Campbell Brown’s show after her resignation before it was replaced by Parker Spitzer.) “I externalized the problem and put it on Jon Stewart’s shoulders, and I was wrong to do that,” he added. “It was my mistake, I screwed up, I take full responsibility.”
