The two Hollywood trade publications, The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety are at odds over the future of NBC Television Chairman Jeff Gaspin. THR in an article headlined: “EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Gaspin Leaving NBC Universal,” said today (Thursday) that it had “confirmed” that Gaspin will be out once the merger with Comcast is completed. However, Variety, citing unnamed insiders, maintain that Gaspin “has not been informed by Comcast of his future just yet.” It noted, however, that NBC Universal will likely “announce the fate of at least some of its top-level management” next week. Meanwhile, NBC continued to bleed viewers on Wednesday night with all of its shows hitting season lows in the ratings. The big winner of the night was ABC, whose three-hour coverage of the 44th Annual CMA Awards attracted an average of 16.45 million viewers, peaking in the 9:00 p.m. half-hour with 17.39 million.
