MSNBC President Phil Griffin suspended Keith Olbermann today (Friday) for making contributions to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates. Griffin said in a statement that he had learned of Olbermann’s contributions Thursday night and immediately suspended him indefinitely without pay for violations of NBC’s policies. reported that Olbermann had donated $2,400 to the campaigns of two Arizona Democratic Congressional candidates and the Democratic contender for the Senate in Kentucky. Olbermann issued a statement to Politico saying that he had not encouraged anyone else to contribute to the three candidates. A New York Times report indicated that it was unlikely that Olbermann’s suspension would lead to his being fired by the network.
