Ronni Chasen, one of Hollywood’s longest-serving public relations representatives, was shot and killed as she was driving in Beverly Hills shortly after midnight after attending the premiere of a movie in Hollywood. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner/Medical Examiner said that she was found dead of five gunshot wounds in her Mercedes E-350 Sedan, which crashed into a light pole. Earlier in the evening, she had accompanied her longtime client, songwriter Diane Warren, to the premiere of Screen Gems’s Burlesque, starring Cher, at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, and an after-screening party at the W Hotel. Chasen has been a familiar figure in Hollywood for nearly 40 years. Her current clients included producers Richard and Lili Zanuck and Irwin Winkler and composer Hans Zimmer. A Beverly Hills police spokesman said that it was too early to determine whether she had been targeted or had been the victim of a random shooting. “It could have been anything,” he said.
