Taking advantage of its relationships with affiliated local TV stations, CNN on Tuesday broadcast Panama City, FL footage of a man threatening a Bay District school board meeting, then opening fire on board members. (He misses them all.) The man, Clay Duke, is then shot by an off-camera security officer. (Duke reportedly then killed himself with his own gun.) The footage from CNN’s two affiliates, WJHG and WMBB, first aired on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show, preceded by a warning about graphic violence that some critics suggested was more than likely to attract viewers rather than encourage them to tune to a different channel.
