Universal’s Despicable Me has become another strong contender on the DVD/Blu-ray sales charts after $25 million in first-day sales on Tuesday of this week, according to Home Media magazine. It joins some impressive rivals for the holiday buying season, including Warner Bros.’s Inception, which debuted at the top of the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart last week, pushing Summit Entertainment’s Twilight: Eclipse to No. 2. In third place was Paramount/DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek Forever After. Home Media noted that Inception debuted at No. 14 on its rental chart, a reflection of the fact that during its first four weeks in release it is not available to Netflix or Redbox customers.
