PARKER SPITZER: ANY DALLAS NEWSCAST GETS MORE VIEWERS

CNN’s hope that the audience for Parker Spitzer will grow as viewers become more engaged with the dueling pair seemed more forlorn than ever this week as Nielsen reported that on Tuesday night, the primetime show attracted just 86,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, the key demo for news programs. That’s about the same number recorded by each of the early evening newscasts of the three leading network affiliates in just the Dallas-Fort Worth market, the fifth-largest U.S. market, alone. In the same hour Bill O’Reilly on Fox News Channel drew 738,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, while Keith Olbermann on MSNBC drew 202,000. Among total adults, the team of Kathleen Parker and Eliot Spitzer attracted 390,000 vs. 3,159,000 for O’Reilly and 890,000 for Olbermann.
