It still doesn’t have a title and only a few months ago rumors were flying that the script was not up to snuff, but the producers of the James Bond movies said Tuesday that “Bond 23” will hit the screen on Nov. 9, 2012. (The first Bond film, Dr. No, starring Sean Connery, hit the screens 50 years earlier, in October 1962.) In a terse announcement by Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and MGM chiefs Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, it was disclosed that Daniel Craig will retain the role of the super spy; Sam Mendes (American Beauty) will direct; and Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan will serve as executive producers. Production is due to begin before the end of this year. Tuesday’s announcement made no mention of who will finance or distribute the movie.
