Comcast’s purge of top NBC executives continued on Thursday with the announcement that Angela Bromstad, the network’s president of primetime entertainment, is stepping down. As NBC’s top programming executive since 2009 — she replaced the much pilloried Ben Silverman — she stood behind “the two Jeffs” (Zucker and Gaspin) as critics discharged brickbats at the unappealing programs that the network recently mounted. All three will be leaving after Comcast officially takes over next week. In a statement, Bromstad made no effort to defend the programs that she chose to develop, none of which became hits, saying only: “I cannot possibly sum up my thoughts and emotions in an email but suffice it to say I have tremendous respect for the company and for the people with whom I have had the privilege to work with and know during my time here.”
