UPDATE: Piers Morgan is due to interview Larry King on Wednesday, CNN said on Monday. In a Twitter post, Morgan said he expects “tension to be in the air” when the interview occurs.
Larry King is obviously unimpressed with the performance thus far of his CNN successor, Piers Morgan. During a BBC radio interview on Friday, King criticized CNN publicists for touting Morgan’s arrival too loudly. “I think they might have been better of starting quietly,” he said. “I think one of the problems they did was over sell it. He was going to be dangerous, he was going to be water cooler talk.” Instead, Morgan has been accused by some TV critics of fawning over the celebrities he has been interviewing and lobbing even softer questions at them than King use to serve up. “He’s good, but not that dangerous,” said King, adding in typical King fashion. “I don’t want to be horrible about him. I think he’s a fine broadcaster.”
