Relatively few viewers showed any interest in finding out who would turn out to be the winners in the finale of CBS’s dance competition Live to Dance Wednesday night. Just 4.5 million tuned in to see the final season installment of Paula Abdul’s first series since leaving American Idol, whereas 10.5 million watched the first episode. Abdul’s old show continued to beat everything else in sight, even though it lost about a million viewers from last week. Losing a million viewers when you can nail down 23.67 million — which America Idol did Wednesday night — is no big deal. Hardly another program on television these days can come close to it. The ABC sitcom Mr. Sunshine debuted with solid ratings as 10.56 million viewers tuned in. ABC claimed that it was its highest-rated mid-season premiere since March 2007.
