DO TODDLERS SEE MORE OF THEIR TV THAN THEIR PARENTS?

Some 17 percent of British parents of children aged four and younger have installed a TV set in the kids’ bedrooms, according to the London Daily Mail, which cited retail researchers Mintel. Younger parents are particularly more likely to have put a TV set in their four-and-under children; 28 percent have, according to the Mintel study. Among the lowest-income demographic, referred to in the U.K. as “Social Group E,” 38 percent have a TV set in the bedrooms of their four-and-under kids. The figures have drawn criticism from older adults, the study suggested, to whom “the idea of putting a TV in a bedroom is tantamount to child abuse, amid claims it leads to isolation, poor development and social skills.”
