TUESDAY IDOL SPECIAL IMPACTS RIVAL NETWORKS

A special Tuesday edition of American Idol boosted Fox to a first-place finish in the ratings as it averaged 21.26 million viewers from 8:00 -9:30 p.m. While CBS, the usual Tuesday-night winner, drew solid numbers, they were nevertheless down significantly as a result of the stiff competition from Fox’s Idol. NCIS attracted 19.19 million viewers, down 14 percent from the previous week, while its spinoff, NCIS Los Angeles pulled in 15.59 million viewers, down 18 percent. CBS’s The Good Wife took over first place at 10:00 p.m. with 11.31 million viewers, holding off a challenge from ABC’s 20/20, which drew 9.30 million viewers for its interview with Charlie Sheen. (The interview ranked No. 1 among the key group of 18-49 year-old adults.)
