ONLINE TV AND MOVIE WATCHING ON THE RISE

Having got a taste of online video by watching mostly short clips of home movies on YouTube, PC users are increasingly devoting time to websites offering long-form professional video, particularly full-length movies and television shows. Mediapost.com said on Thursday that in March, viewers spent more time watching Netflix content than any other — 9 hours and 53 minutes per viewer per month. By contrast, YouTube continued to draw the most viewers but it was only in sixth place when time-per-viewer was measured, coming in at 2 hours and 17 minutes. Mediapost said that the number of people accessing the Web for video content in March increased 3.6 percent over February.
