CBS HOPING TO REPLACE GOOD SHOWS WITH BETTER ONES

When CBS unveils its programming lineup later this week, $#*! My Dad Says, The Defenders and Mad Love will not be on it. All three shows got decent ratings — but decent isn’t good enough for CBS, the highest-rated of all the broadcast networks. The cancellations were first disclosed by Broadcasting and Cable magazine. The network announced last Friday that it had picked up two new shows for next season, the comedy Two Broke Girls and the drama, Person of Interest. CBS also said on Monday that Katie Couric’s last night at the anchor desk of the CBS Evening News will be Thursday May 19. Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes is due to take over on June 6. The network did not indicate who will be anchoring the newscast during the two-week gap.
