A two-hour performance edition of Fox’s American Idol Wednesday night utterly dominated the TV schedule as it averaged 23.04 million viewers — more than all of the other major networks combined. The talent contest — clearly unaffected by the departure of Simon Cowell — saw its audience rise to 24.36 million in the second hour. Every other network was left in the dust. The second-highest-rated show of the night was the season finale of CBS’s Criminal Minds with 12.53 million viewers. NBC drew just 3.19 million viewers for a two-hour installment of its game show Minute to Win It, but came out of it at 10:00 p.m. with decent ratings for the season finale of Law & Order SVU, which drew 8.99 million viewers and won the time period.
