There was a lot of TV viewing going on Tuesday night as ABC’s Dancing with the Stars wound up the season, with 20.97 million viewers for the two-hour season finale, according to Nielsen Research. Some 22.59 million were tuned in for the final half-hour of the show which saw Hines Ward selected as this season’s champ. Earlier in the evening, the final duel on Fox’s American Idol attracted 19.96 million viewers. That hour aired against a Dancing with the Stars “clips” show, which drew 10.29 million viewers. At 9:00 p.m. the season finale of Glee on Fox also attracted a huge audience — 12.10 million viewers, despite airing against ABC’s Dancing. Even without trying to compete, CBS did so effectively with reruns of NCIS (10.24 million viewers), and NCIS: Los Angeles (9.27 million). And even NBC remained in the race with solid numbers for the season finale of The Biggest Loser, which attracted an average of 8.08 million viewers over two hours, followed by The Voicea with 8.55 million.
