Members of the Producers Guild of America may continually gripe about the flight of production to other states and countries, but today’s (Wednesday) Los Angeles Times reports that they are nevertheless planning to host a major conference in Burbank on June 3-5 at which hundreds of film commissioners from all over the world will provide information on the kind of tax credits and other incentives their countries are offering to lure the filmmakers. In an interview with the Times, film producer Marshall Herskovitz, a co-chairman of the conference, said, “We wish it were easier to make films in Los Angeles, and we’re very concerned about the extent to which production has left L.A. … Nevertheless, we have to deal with the world as it is.”
