As if the controversy over the firing of Cheryl Cole from the upcoming X-Factor talent show weren’t enough bad publicity to deal with, Fox executives on Wednesday now faced the possibility of losing Jennifer Lopez on American Idol for next season. In an interview with BBC radio, the singer — who, with Steven Tyler, is being credited for re-energizing Idol following the departure of Simon Cowell — said that she’s not sure whether she’ll continue on the show. “I haven’t been forced to make a decision and I’m glad about that because honestly I’m very on the fence about it,” she remarked. Media commentators were uncertain whether Lopez’s comments were a negotiating ploy or whether they actually reflected her ambivalence. “I have a lot [of] other things happening, and it’s going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year,” she said.
