Kung Fu Panda 2 has overtaken Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at the overseas box office. Now in 45 countries, Panda raked in $56.5 million in 45 countries last weekend to bring its worldwide total to $330 million, Paramount told the Associated Press. (The media measurement firm Rentrak said that the movie earned $43 million in 33 countries and put its total at $346 million.) Meanwhile, Pirates passed the $900-million mark worldwide as it collected $41.1 million in 46 countries after its fourth weekend, according to Disney. (Rentrak puts the weekend total at $35 million in 46 countries and the worldwide total at $799 million.) Also on Wednesday, Paramount announced that it had passed the $1 billion mark at the international box office last week — four days ahead of last year’s pace.
