Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides may not be the equal of the previous two Pirates sequels at the North American box office — but overseas it continues to rake in crates of doubloons (and other forms of cash). Last weekend the movie earned $108 million abroad to bring its worldwide gross to $571,302,759. It has earned $163,607,625 in the U.S. and Canada. Kung Fu Panda, which has also produced disappointing results domestically, roared overseas, opening with $36,119,333 in just nine countries. The Hangover: Part II, a huge hit at home, could become the rare U.S. comedy to become successful abroad as well. It brought in $57,878,474 from 33 countries.
