George Lucas says that he has 50 scripts for his planned Star Wars TV series ready to go before the cameras, but that he’s waiting for technology to be developed that will bring down the costs of shooting them. In an interview with cable channel G4’s Attack of the Show!, Lucas said . “We’re just waiting to figure out a different way of making movies … a different technology that we can use so that it’s economically feasible to shoot the show…. We have to figure out a way of making it at about a tenth the cost of the features, because it’s television. And we’re working toward that .. and we’ll get there at some point.” It cost $11 million to make the original Star Wars movie in 1977, but Lucas has indicated that he couldn’t even make a half-hour TV episode of his Star Wars series for anything like that amount of money these days.
