WHY WAS CHERYL COLE FIRED — AND WHO DID IT?
A week after it was reported that Cheryl Cole had been dropped from the U.S. version of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, neither the Fox TV network nor the producers — nor Cole herself — has yet to issue a statement about her dismissal, and while the tabloid press has been pointing a lot of fingers in different directions, it remains unclear who made the decision to fire Cole and why. In an interview with the London Daily Mail, Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am, who is being described in some reports as Cole’s U.S. manager, said, “Cheryl has been through rougher things than this, so this is going to be no problem for her.” He denied that Cowell made the decision to axe her. “It’s easy to imagine Simon as this one-man empire, but that’s not the case,” Will.i.am told the newspaper. “He has people he needs to answer to and sometimes his hands are tied.”
