Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 joined the billion-dollar club over the weekend, the club’s ninth member. Through Sunday the franchise finale had earned $1.01 billion worldwide ($318.5 million domestically; $690 million internationally). It’s the first Warner Bros. film to pass the $1-billion mark. The club is due to be joined by a tenth member, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, sometime this week. Its worldwide tally now stands at $983 million ($337.9 million domestically; $645 million internationally). The other members of the club include: Avatar, $2.8 billion; Titanic, 1.8 billion; The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, $1.11 billion; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man s Chest, $1.07 billion; Toy Story 3, $1.06 billion; Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, 1.03 billion; Alice in Wonderland, $1.02 billion; and The Dark Knight, $1.00 billion.
