PHONE-HACKING DETECTIVE ORDERED TO NAME HIS BOSSES

Glenn Mulcaire

A British court has ordered Glenn Mulcaire, the private detective at the center of the phone hacking scandal that has damaged Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, to reveal who at the now-defunct News of the World tabloid instructed him to intercept the voicemails of celebrities, politicians, and others and provide the results of his eavesdropping to the paper’s reporters. Britain’s Guardian newspaper reported today (Friday) that Mulcaire has lost an appeal against a lower court order and will be required to reveal the information by the end of next week. His opportunity to continue his legal resistance against the court decision appears limited given the fact that this week News International, the News Corp subsidiary overseeing the company’s British news operations, said that it will no longer pay Mulcaire’s legal bills.
