FEWER GAY CHARACTERS IN TV SHOWS THIS SEASON, SAYS GLAAD
GLAAD, the gay-rights organization, said on Monday that the percentage of gay, lesbian or bisexual characters included in the 91 scripted TV series during the new television series has dropped — from 3.9 percent last season to 2.9 percent this season. The group noted that Fox had the highest percentage — eight regular gay characters out of a total of 117. But that percentage may be skewed because of the fact that Fox generally airs only two hours of primetime programs each night, while the other major networks air three.
