Ratings for CBS’s Two and a Half Men dipped slightly on Monday, but with 17.3 million viewers, it remained the top-rated show of the night, beating ABC’s two-hour Dancing With the Stars, which averaged 16.5 million viewers. Fox’s new dinosaur drama Terra Nova, meanwhile, held steady in its second week with 8.3 million viewers, but NBC’s The Playboy Club saw most of its remaining viewers scamper away, leaving it with only 3.4 million. Following those dismal figures, NBC canceled The Playboy Club today (Tuesday), making it the first new series of the seeason to be canceled. The opening gives the network a slot for its new magazine show, Rock Center With Brian Williams, which will now debut on Oct. 31. In the meantime, NBC plans to air repeats of Prime Suspect in the 10:00 p.m. hour. In cable ratings, Sunday night’s season debut of Dexter drew 2.25 million viewers — a terrific number for cable — in fact, it marked the highest season debut ever for the series.
