The X Factor neither gained nor lost ground Wednesday night, as it continued to produce solid if not outstanding ratings. The first hour at 8:00 p.m. attracted 11.2 million viewers and beat CBS’s always-strong Survivor: South Pacific with 10.5 million viewers. On ABC, The Middle performed better-than-middlin’ with 9 million viewers while the new Suburgatory at 8:30 p.m. also held well with 9.05 million. At 9:00 p.m. The X Factor fell to third place even while boosting its audience to 12.3 million. It was edged out by CBS’s Criminal Minds with 13.3 million viewers and ABC’s Modern Family with 13.1 million. NBC’s Harry’s Law was a contender but came in last in the hour with 8.2 million.
