Overseas, Immortals knocked Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn off its perch at the top of the box office. Tarsem Singh’s 3D saga racked up $37.1 million in ticket sales in 35 countries, while Tintin, which is now playing in 50 countries, grossed $26.7 million. Nevertheless, the Spielberg film has now taken in $159.1 million in foreign sales more than a month before it opens in North America on December 21. The No. 3 film played only in France — the comedy Intouchables, co-directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. In its second weekend, the film earned an estimated $18 million from 508 theaters, or a whopping $35,433 per theater.
