M:I EXPECTED TO CRUISE TO ANOTHER BOX OFFICE WIN

December 30, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

With no new films opening wide this weekend, Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol should have no difficulty climbing to the top of the box office again over the New Year’s weekend, according to box office pundits. They’re predicting that it will earn about what it did over the Christmas holiday — $44.1 million — it not a little more. The same goes for last weekend’s No. 2 and No. 3 films, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Opening in New York and Los Angeles in four theaters, the Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep, is expected to be the clear winner on a per-theater basis.
