Hoping to win back some of the 800.000 Netflix subscribers who fled after the company upped its prices for those wanting to rent movies via the mail and via online streaming, the online video renter on Wednesday unveiled a fully overhauled app for the iPad, which has received positive reviews from consumer technology sites. “The new iPad interface gets high marks for both attractiveness and usability,” wrote Dan Moren in MacWorld magazine. “Bottom line: huge improvement,” said CNET technology writer Rick Broida. Most writers single out the new app’s “Continue Watching” feature, which displays the last six movies (or TV shows) that the user has been watching, allowing them to be resumed at the same point where they had been stopped. The market was unimpressed. Netflix shares, which had inched upwards in recent days, dropped more than 2 percent by midday and were trading at $69.57.
