SHOPPERS GIVING DVD’S AS XMAS GIFTS

DVDs that can be presented as gifts were the top sellers last week, which included Black Friday. According to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, the top seller for the week was Warner Home Video’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2. It was the third straight week that the hit movie — which grossed $1.33 billion at the worldwide box office — remained at the top of the sales chart. (Actual sales figures for DVDs are not disclosed.) In its fourth week at retailers, Disney’s Cars 2 moved back into second place, and, in a surprise, Bridesmaids rose to No. 3 — 11 weeks after it was released. Paramount’s Super 8 debuted at No. 4 on the sales chart and No. 1 on Home Media magazine’s rental chart.
