The Presidents Day weekend saw five films racking up more than $20 million in ticket sales. Estimates for the four days were so close that the order of finish could be scrambled by the time a final tally is calculated. It seems, however, that Universal’s Safe House, with an estimated four-day gross of $28.4 million in its second weekend, will turn out to be the winner. Second place is virtually a toss up. Sony figures that Week No. 2 of The Vow earned $26.6 million, while Warner Bros. estimates that the second week of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island took in $26.4 million. The debut of Sony’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was riding close behind with about $25.7 million, while Fox’s This Means War managed to bring in around $20.4 million.
