Hoboken, New Jersey, the city that spawned Frank Sinatra but which he himself spurned after achieving success, has made it known that it wants nothing to do with New Jersey’s current collection of celebrity sensations. The city said it will not issue film permits for an as-yet-untitled spinoff of Jersey Shore, citing concern for “public safety” and “the quality of life.” In a message posted on the city’s website, Mayor Dawn Zimmer said that she feared that “the constant presence of such a production would be an attractive nuisance causing crowds to assemble at every hour of the day and night.” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley, who reportedly will star in the new MTV series responded to the Hoboken rejection on a morning talk show on WPLJ-FM in New York. “Not everyone is going to like us. At the end of the day it’s [Mayor Zimmer’s] loss. I love Hoboken. No hate. Maybe she just doesn’t like our tans, I don’t know,” said Polizzi. “We’re just trying to help the economy in Jersey and we’re trying to bring profit to it. What’s wrong with that?” commented Farley.
