Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has agreed to a settlement offer from The Weinstein Co. a month before his multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the company over alleged accounting irregularities was to go to trial, the Hollywood Reporter reported today (Thursday), citing recently filed court documents. Moore had hired an outside accounting firm to conduct an audit of receipts for his 2004 film, Fahrenheit 9/11, which grossed $222 million worldwide. According to his lawsuit, the audit uncovered “substantial irregularities” resulting in “gross underpayment” to Moore. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Contacted by THR, neither side would comment on it.
