NBC ALIGNS ALL ITS CABLE NETWORKS FOR SMASH RERUN

February 10, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Six cable networks owned by NBC Universal will simultaneously broadcast a rerun of the pilot episode of NBC’s Smash tonight from midnight to 1:00 a.m. In a statement, the company called the simulcast, which will air from midnight to 1:00 a.m. a “cable roadblock,” presumably suggesting that viewers clicking their remotes to see what’s on at that time will see Smash appear on their screens repeatedly. The NBC Universal announcement included a statement from NBC Entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt, who remarked. “A multi-cable network roadblock is the perfect way to continue the momentum for this exciting new show. … Smash is an event to be experienced more than once and we truly appreciate the cooperation of our sister cable networks … to help the series break through.” Conspicuously absent from NBC’s Smash announcement was any mention of the network’s website, NBC.com, or its co-owned Hulu video site.
