More complete ratings have indicated that Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVI game between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots was watched by an average of 111.3 million viewers. That makes it the new most-watched television program in history, replacing last year’s record of 111.0 million viewers for Super Bowl XLV. In Boston, the game drew a 56.7 rating/81 share. New York, which won the game 21-17, was not even among the top ten cities, ratings-wise. It posted a 49.7/74. Awarded the post-game slot, NBC’s talent contest The Voice averaged 37.6 million viewers — up 27 percent over last year’s post-game show, Glee (when Fox carried the game).
